Boora, in association with SmithGroup, has been selected by Michigan State University to design an update to their College of Music performance facilities.

The project will significantly upgrade the school’s Fairchild Theatre, a 550-seat venue used by the College of Music, the Department of Theatre and the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts.  Built in 1940, Fairchild Theatre has poor acoustics for its current use as a rehearsal and performance space. The current project will upgrade the theater’s acoustics, accessibility and performance systems to create a more flexible, multi-functional facility that can adapt to the needs of today’s musical and theatrical productions.

Also included is the renovation of a 350-seat auditorium in the Music Building that will improve the venue’s acoustics, seating and accessibility to create a first-rate recital space for small ensemble performances.

Construction is expected to commence in May 2012, with anticipated completion in 2013.
