On April 29, 2011, Stanford University officially dedicated the new Knight Management Center, a multi-faceted, eight-building complex for the university’s Graduate School of Business. Named for Stanford graduate and Nike founder, Phil Knight, the 360,000-square foot facility is a reflection of Stanford’s dedication to business education, interdisciplinary teaching, and environmental stewardship. With eight buildings situated on a 12.5-acre site, the center’s design blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Indoor spaces expand into outside courtyards and a central plaza -- creating a relationship between the buildings and the outdoors. Residential in scale, the center's sense of intimacy fosters collaboration. Inside, the building’s spaces are daylit, engaging, and flexible. Classrooms can be configured for large lectures or intimate seminars. Formal and informal gathering spaces abound. Expected to receive LEED Platinum status, it will be one of the first university complexes to be certified Platinum in the nation. Read and see more of the Knight Management Center here. |
